Kennett High School, Class of 2012

Yearbook Dedication: Ms. Carolyn Smith

Friendly, compassionate, and talented are three qualities attributed to the recipient of this year's dedication.  In the classroom, this teacher captures the attention of students by transforming difficult material into everyday language.  Intimidating concepts become simplified and relatable under her direction.  During her free time, she plays hostess to students seeking a quiet place to study or finish assignments, offering up her laptops for use as well as her expertise.  However, this teacher's presence extends beyond the walls of her classroom.  In the hallway, on those early Monday mornings, she will likely greet you with a cheerful "good morning!"  She takes a genuine interest in her students' lives, typically inquiring about performance in sports and recalling details that anyone other than an avid listener would not recollect.  Spotted after school at movie club or perhaps shedding a tear under her sunglasses at graduation, she has influenced every student at Kennett High School in one way or another.  Her consistently cheerful spirit and warm presence have won the hearts of many students and created a more positive experience within the walls of our school.  Because of her easygoing and generous nature, the Class of 2012 is proud to dedicate this year's Kennetteer to Ms. Carolyn Smith.
